A: It’s a pleasure to be here. My journey into teaching was sparked by my own positive school experiences and the profound impact my teachers had on me. I wanted to pay it forward and create a nurturing environment where children could thrive, particularly during their formative years in first grade.
Q: First grade is indeed a critical time for children’s development. Can you share why this year is so pivotal?
A: Absolutely. First grade is when children learn to read and become more independent both academically and socially. It lays the foundation for their future learning and sets the tone for their educational journey.
Q: Building foundational skills is crucial. How do you approach individualized education in a public school setting?
A: In a diverse public school environment, it’s essential to recognize and foster each child’s unique talents and abilities. We offer after-school programs in various subjects, from art to sports, to cater to different interests and learning styles.
Q: Technology is increasingly integrated into education, but it also poses challenges, especially with social media. How do you navigate this in your classroom?
A: Technology has its benefits, but it also brings challenges, particularly with social media and online safety. As teachers, we need to monitor students’ online activities and educate them about responsible internet usage.
Q: Balancing work and personal life can be challenging, especially for working moms like yourself. How do you manage this?
A: It’s definitely a juggle, but I believe in leading by example. My students see that I have a life outside of school, and it’s important for them to understand that women can have successful careers while also being mothers.
Q: Your dedication to your students is admirable. What advice do you have for showing appreciation to teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week?
A: A simple thank you goes a long way in showing appreciation. Patience and understanding are also invaluable gifts. And for those who want to go the extra mile, a small token of appreciation like a Starbucks card can brighten a teacher’s day.
