She Keeps Building

Škola Serbika
Her next project started at home. She wanted her son, growing up in New York, to speak Serbian, but she couldn’t find anything that didn’t depend entirely on her. So during the pandemic she built it herself: Škola Serbika, an online Serbian school for children and families.
Many of us raising kids between two cultures know that worry well. A language carries the jokes, the songs, the way your grandmother talks.
A castle inside
When we asked what she’s building, she told us about something inside her.
“Inside me, there’s a castle I’ve been constructing over the years from all my experiences and lessons. And now, I finally feel ready to rule it, play inside it, and enjoy the freedom and wisdom I’ve gathered along the way.”
Chapters, not endings
She has weathered plenty getting there.
